4. Purpose

Newly elected Rio Rancho Mayor Tom Swisstack announces the formation of a transition team to assist him during his first 100 days of office. This team will be comprised of local, regional & state business, government and community leaders and citizens. “During the campaign I consistently heard the message from the citizens that we need to have a clear, concise and open communication pathway from the Governing Body, Administration and Staff to the public and vice-versa,” said Mayor Swisstack. “With the largest voter turnout in Rio Rancho history, this message was sent loud and clear. As Mayor, I sincerely believe that this transition team will play a vital role in our future progress, growth and development.”

1. Transition team will have 6 focus groups covering these areas:

  • Fiscal/Financial—Chair: Karen Dell Site, CPA, Atkinson & Co.
  • Infrastructure—Chair: Lawrence Rael, MRCOG
  • Administrative—Chair: Debbi Moore, Rio Rancho Regional Chamber
  • Development Services—Chair: Bill Moore, Citizen/Former Elected Official
  • Business/Economic Development—Chair: Don Chalmers, Don Chalmers Ford
  • Public Safety-Chair: Paul Caputo, RR Businessman
2. Transition teams are comprised of citizens, civic & business leaders. Additionally, each focus group will have a representative of the Governing Body as a participant.
3. Each focus group will concentrate on the following?

  • What are the top 3 areas that are working well?
  • What are top 3 areas of improvement?
  • How is the overall role of quality service provided from this focus area within the community and internally?
4. Each focus group will meet within the next 5 weeks and then report findings & recommendations back to the Mayor.
5. Funding for this transition team is providing by Swisstack for Mayor & private donations. The Rio Rancho Regional Chamber will be providing in-kind administrative support. No City funds will be expended in this regard.
6. Additionally, over the next 8-week period, Mayor Swisstack will be meeting with various homeowner’s groups, business and civic groups in our City. A minimum of 12 meetings will be scheduled throughout all six City Council Districts.
